Limitless freedom Was written On white paper in white ink It was given to all the people For them to have and keep A blank page Their limitless freedom was Invisible and unattainable So they threw away the paper The governments Incomprehensible gift Of limitless freedom They never knew they had. White covered the ground, Government took control And the people suffered. One held their paper to the light In frustration and confusion And saw Limitless freedom. But threw it away knowing He was safe Without it.
That first skiff of snow We all forget it And the day it arrived We had a sense of foreboding Something I wouldn’t show It’s leaving slowly, bit by bit Intoxicating warmth swallowing me alive And finally to do it all and spare my longing.
A million identical memories Will melt away with the snow Dried stains of winters mark I dream of adventures to unfold You’d rather hear the stories Winter stones put on a show To long ago we did embark Upon a dream I did not hold.
